Weekly Global Report

The Weekly Global Report (WGR), is edited by FDI Research Manager Andrew Pickford. As FDI’s flagship publication it has a very select readership, which includes key policy makers both in Australia and internationally.

The WGR addresses Australia's priorities by gathering information and analysis on key issues and highlighting the relevance for Australian policy makers. The WGR avoids repetition of analysis found in the consumer media, and focuses on emerging issues and trends within the framework of FDI's mandate, which is, indeed, to look at Future Directions. Thus, the WGR is varied in coverage and length, and, we hope, always stimulating. The purpose is to bring all of our thinking into a broader context.

The WGR is able to provide high level strategic analysis due to the quality sources from which it is able to access intelligence. These include Defense & Foreign Affairs Special Analysis and FDI’s sister organisation, The International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA). The partnerships that FDI has with these organisations ensure that strategic analysis is derived from the highest quality intelligence sources based in Washington DC.

The WGR has published a number of key reports which has attracted the attention of national level intelligence agencies. In particular, the April 7, 2008, article written by FDI Research Committee Chairman Gregory Copley: “‘US Bush Administration Reportedly Reconsidering its “Deal” With Tehran; Military and Other Action Against the Clerics Again Under Consideration", contains important information on the future of the Middle-East.

The FDI WGR is available for subscription for $270 per annum and is published at least 48 times a year. A four week trial subscription is available upon request.
