FDI Indian Ocean Programme Research Workshops
- Thursday, 28 July 2011
FDI’s Indian Ocean Research Programme is hosting a series of invitation-only research workshops, from 16-19 August 2011.
The workshops are being held in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra and will focus on the strategic objectives of India and the United States as they relate to the Indian Ocean region, looking out to 2020.
Attending the workshops will be representatives from the defence, business, academic, government and diplomatic sectors. The findings of the workshops will be released as FDI Workshop Reports and will be available for download from the FDI website.
The reports will then inform our next landmark study ‘Major Power Intentions in the Indian Ocean Region’, which asks the questions ‘What are the strategic intentions of India, China and the United States in relation to the Indian Ocean Region?’ and ‘What implications do they have for Australia?’ The study is scheduled for release in 2012.
The workshops will be chaired by FDI’s CEO and Institute Director, Major General John Hartley, AO (Rtd).
