The Australian Department of Defence, together with Future Directions International,held the inaugural 1.5 Track Defence Strategic Dialogue between Australia and India in Perth, on the 19th and 20th July.

Address by General Håkan Syrén, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee

Future Directions International together with the Department of Defence held an address by General Håkan Syrén, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee on Friday 6th July 2012, at Curtin Graduate School of Business. General Håkan Syrén spoke on the role and challenges facing Europe’s Military community and also on a range of issues, including the situation in the Middle East and North Africa. He also spoke on anti-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean as well as the state of European military forces, particularly in light of economic issues.

Grain Growers Innovation Generation Conference

Grain Growers Innovation Generation Conference was held in Adelaide on the 9-10 July 2012. It was themed "Food Security: Obstacles and Opportunities". The Conference was attended by 150 delegates with MAJGEN John Hartley AO (Retd), CEO of Future Directiosn International asked to be a guest speaker on the issue of Global Land Availability.

Future Directions International was delighted to host an afternoon roundtable, with Sheikh Humam Baqir Hamoudi on Thursday, 31 May 2012.
Sheikh Humam Baqir Hamoudi is Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of Representatives of Iraq and visited Australia as a guest of the Australian Parliament and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Discussion during the roundtable included Iraq’s desire for increased trade relations, in particular with Australia, and its vision of becoming the leading centre of trade and mediation between East and West.

Australia and US host major international military conference. FDI – CEO John Hartley was invited as a Facilitator at this two day conference.

Australia and the United States have hosted a major military planning conference in Sydney involving approximately 100 delegates from 35 countries.
The Multilateral Planners Conference VII was an opportunity for countries to discuss issues of mutual strategic interest, such as evolving global and regional challenges and threats.
