Future Directions International, is pleased to offer short-term volunteer placements. We invite high-achieving, final-year and postgraduate students to expand and apply the research and analytical skills acquired during their studies.
Applicants should submit an application to the relevant FDI Research Manager, as noted below. Applications must contain the student’s curriculum vitae, a covering letter (stating their preferred research programme) and a recent sample of their written work.

Entry to the Volunteer Programme is highly competitive and applicants will need to demonstrate:
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- High academic achievement
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- An ability to work independently
- Time management skills
- A keen interest in current affairs and international issues
A successful volunteer placement with FDI will provide an excellent stepping-stone for opportunities in all careers/jobs which require an understanding of strategy. Former volunteers are employed by State and Commonwealth Governments, as well as the private sector. Volunteers will be expected to engage in a variety of tasks, including researching and writing articles and papers, analysing events and trends in our focus areas and possible assistance in the production of a number of publications.
